Charles A Dana

Editor of the New York Sun, Charles Dana was the first to refer to Chicago as "The Windy City." It was not due to the weather, but rather because of all the hot air coming out of the mouths of those soliciting for Chicago to host the 1893 World's Fair.1 Indeed, he indeed, he instructed his readers to ignore "the nonsensical claims of that windy city."2
