Hull House

Founded by Jane Addams in 1889, Hull House was an advocate of progressive causes. Among these were child labor, minimum wage, and the 8 hour day, along with general social/intellectual uplift.

It stood at Halsted and Polk. By 1911, 32 settlements in Chicago were built using the Hull House model.1
